The Development and Peace Foundation (sef:) is governed and controlled by its Board of Trustees and its Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee draws up the annual work programme and manages the assets of the sef.

The Board of Trustees lays down the key areas of activity, oversees the work of the Executive Committee and approves the budget as well as the annual financial statement.

An Advisory Board supports the sef: in conceptual and scientific questions.

On 22 August 2024, the newly appointed Board of Trustees held its inaugural meeting at the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia. Under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Minister President Hendrik Wüst, new members were appointed to the Executive Committee and the Advisory Board.
