Today's world is increasingly influenced by globalisation. This has led, among other things, to a threatened loss of democratically legitimised politics. The Development and Peace Foundation seeks to map out strategies to reshape the global order in a manner which facilitates development compatible with human dignity and civilises international relations. The Foundation's activities are guided by the global governance concept and its continued development, also towards political viability.
On the occasion of the Foundation's 20th anniversary, this latest Special Publication takes stock of the progress achieved to date. In the first part of the book, Dirk Messner and Franz Nuscheler offer an insider's view of the current stage reached in the global governance debate. In the second part, the results of the Foundation's work are examined from an "outsider's" perspective by external academics. Their aim is to determine the extent to which a comprehensive global governance model can be developed from these results and identify the deficits and unresolved issues which require urgent attention from now on.
