Conference languages: German/English (simultaneous interpretation)
For local communities across the world, disaster risks are dramatically increasing as a result of climate change and other hazards. Extreme weather events are occurring more frequently, as for example in Pakistan in 2022 or in Germany in 2021. In light of this, comprehensive disaster risk reduction (DRR) and efficient crisis management are essential for sustainable development.
Cities and municipalities have a special responsibility in disaster preparedness and crisis management. At the same time, there are numerous starting points at the local level for actively shaping sustainable development through strategic disaster risk management. Experts from local authorities, politics, academia and civil society will be discussing these opportunities at the Bonn Symposium 2022. There will be ample possibilities for participants to partake actively through interactive discussion methods.
The conference is planned as an in person event. For international participants, a live stream in English will be made available. The link will be sent to registered participants prior to the conference.
Participation is by invitation only. If you are interested in attending, please send a short email to nordmann(at)sef-bonn.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
