Inclusive participation is a key factor for sustainable and just peace – yet it continues to face structural barriers and is far from a reality in many peace processes. In 2025, the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda celebrates its 25th anniversary – a good moment to take stock: how far we’ve come – and how much remains to be done to turn commitments into practice.
The Berlin Summer Dialogue 2025 takes this milestone as an opportunity to reflect on progress, address current challenges – including the growing global backlash against equality and participation – and discuss strategies to make peace processes more inclusive.
The event in September marks the beginning of a two-part dialogue. In spring 2026, we will build on the results, continue the conversation and develop concrete ideas and recommendations to advance participation in peace processes.
